Triplet Twins!!!!!!

Triplet Twins

Multiples are when there are more than one baby in the womb at a time. This can happen naturally when an egg splits creating identical or monozygotic twins or when two or more eggs are fertilized at the same time (dizygotic).

There are also fertility drugs that can increase the likelihood of more than one baby being conceived. For example, using Clomid the likelihood of having twins is 10%. Other fertility treatments, like IVF can also result in twin or higher order multiple pregnancies.

Stages during Twin pregnancy

Here is a picture predicting the different stages during twin pragnancies:

Triplet births are uncommon but most of us run into our share of winsome threesomes. Like this love trio, Nicole, Erica and Jaclyn Dahm. This game troupe is best known (OK, only known) for their willingness to cram all three of their Playmate-worthy bodies into the fold-out of Playboy magazine's December 1998 issue.

We let in our minds that beauty comes in threes, bear in mind that Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, the brainy inventor of the "Five Stages of Grief," was also a triplet.

Footballer and wife's incredible hat-trick of babies

Natalie and Danny, also 26, met at school when they were 15. They married six years later and began trying for a family but soon realised there were problems.
After trying for years we decided to look at IVF treatment, that two embryos were implanted into her womb – and the successful IVF transfer meant the wife of football star Danny was now pregnant with triplets.

Triplet Daughters in mini-Charlton Athletic shirts
Sofia, Annabella and Mia – were born by caesarean last September, the perfect hat-trick for Charlton Athletic midfielder Danny and his wife
Our three-months scan confirmed it. The doctors were shocked and thought one of the embryos must have divided, forming identical twins.
  • Then they saw they were all in separate amniotic sacs with their own placentas. They said I must have fallen pregnant naturally.
  • It was hard to believe as we had tried for five years to have a baby naturally.

This family have been living in Toronto for over seven years, and had been raising their twin boys here when Mom got pregnant with triplets!!!  Despite the daily hardship of raising five boys with little family or other support, Mom and Dad almost always seem in good spirits, and are constantly laughing when we go to visit.

Triplet Twins!!!!!

The Triplets mom was about five weeks pregnant when they flew to Fiji on holidays. she started to feel that things weren't right, and was glad when they arrived back home.

she started to bleed, so contacted their doctor about the possibility of having an early scan.

Mom's experience during Scan

The scan, at six and a half weeks gestation, took much longer than we anticipated, but we eagerly asked throughout the scan if our baby appeared normal for its gestation.
  • We were keen to see that heartbeat! The sonographer advised us she needed more time to look at things to make her conclusion, so we anxiously waited.
  • All up our scan took just over one hour.

Comments

  1. The doctor who told parents who got triplets from two implanted eggs that "they must have gotten the triplets naturally" because they were born with seperate sacs doesn't know what he's talking about. Identical twins are born with separate sacs and placentas all the time.

Rare and Unusual Complications of Twin Pregnancies  Monozygotic twinning occurs when a single fertilized ovum splits after conception. The outcome depends on the timing of division. In the first 72 hours after fertilization, a diamniotic, dichorionic twin develops; between days 4 and 8, a diamniotic, monochorionic twin develops; approximately 8 days after fertilization, a monoamniotic, monochorionic twin develops; and after day 12, conjoined twins (shown) develop. Monozygotic twins occur in 4 in 1,000 births. Diagnosis is best done by ultrasound in the first or early second trimester.                                                                 Cojoine
